The team is busy preparing for the first edition of the Graines de Cinéastes Festival. This year, we will focus on filmmakers’ first and second productions of short films of all genres. The program is now complete, and we can’t wait to share it with you.
The festival will consist of:
- 2 public screenings of +/-10 films and Q&A with the filmmakers* (May 7th & 8th at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels – this event will also be available online on Vimeo);
- 2 live round-tables discussing the following issues: the impact of the #MeToo movement, and the situation of French-speaking Belgian cinema (May 8th at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels – this event will also be available online on Vimeo);
- A catalogue of approx. thirty films, including national premieres, streaming on the SOONER platform (May 9th to 16th) together with interviews with the directors who present their intentions and their vision.
The project promotes female* filmmakers who are starting their career in Belgian cinema. We want to contribute to the visibility and representation of the new generation of female* filmmakers.
The Graines de Cinéastes project has taken root in the non-profit organization Elles Tournent – Dames Draaien, which promotes and values the work of women* in the artistic and cultural world in general and especially in the audiovisual sector. To this end, the association develops activities such as the creation and animation of socio-cultural events, festivals, workshops, film clubs, and conferences.
