The Brussels International Women’s Film Festival returns October 1-6, 2024

The call for films for the 2024 edition of our Brussels International Women’s Film Festival is now open:

An energetic team decides to fill a gap in our cultural landscape, and a Women’s Film Festival was born (2008). ELLES TOURNENT takes learnings from the past to resolutely move forward on a path yet to be invented… Step by step, unearthing treasures, screening new talent…

In 1914, Alice GUY-BLACHE was the first known woman in the history of cinema to direct a fiction film. Her call to action remains valid today: “Keep rolling, ladies !”. The ladies are still rolling and the Brussels International Women’s Film Festival presents a selection of films from the four corners of the earth, in all formats, lengths and genres, and ideally in the presence of the filmmakers. These filmmakers bring us fun, emotions, power and inspiration.

The event is made up of +/- 20 sessions of screenings, previews, unpublished sessions, interventions and debates with experts who will ensure a reflexive or theoretical extension to the theme addressed.

Looking at the world through a filmmaker’s eyes, dramatically expand our perspective ! Women filmmakers share their very personal vision with us. We invite you to get empowered and inspired. Join us to celebrate!

Elles Tournent promotes and enhances the work of women in the arts and cultural world in general and particularly in the audiovisual and media sectors.

Unique films from talented women, unreleased films, meetings, discussions… Elles Tournent welcomes women directors from all over the world. Come and meet them and share your enthusiasm with them.

The exploratory study on the place of women in the film industry in French-speaking Belgium is part of an important media news.

The association works to broadcast women’s cinematographic works locally through projects such as OTR (On the road).
